"A" The 1985-87 Rangers came with a two-piece style release bearing consisting of a short bearing and a steel piston or spacer. This two-piece style release bearing has been replaced by a new one-piece design that eliminates the need for the steel piston or spacer. When replacing the old two-piece style bearing, the piston or spacer must be removed from inside the concentric slave cylinder. If this is not done, the clutch finger will be overstroked and cause slippage and/or noise.
